What it does

Seven things, in plain English.

Each one has a note at the bottom saying where it stops. That isn’t modesty, it’s the whole point — you can’t trust a number from software that won’t tell you what it doesn’t know.

Card import

Drop the card in. Your years file themselves.

Pull the card out of the monitor, drop it in, and your fields come out drawn from where the machine actually drove — not traced off a photo, not typed in from the FSA sheet.

Planting and harvest dates come with it, and the varieties, going back as far as the card goes. You confirm each field yourself before anything files: create it, merge it into one you already have, or skip it. Nothing gets folded into your records behind your back, and a boundary you drew yourself is never overwritten by one a machine guessed at.

Boundaries from anywhere else come in the same door — shapefile, KML, KMZ or GeoJSON — whether they came from the FSA office, your agronomist, or the system you're leaving.

Where it stops

Case IH and New Holland cards today. We don’t read John Deere or ISOXML files yet, and green-equipment farms bring boundaries in as shapefiles instead.

Prescriptions

A seeding rate that knows where your pivot ends.

Draw the pivot once. AcreCast pulls your soil survey straight from USDA, cuts it at the pivot’s actual edge, and rates the watered ground and the dry corners separately — because they’re separate ground.

What comes out is a variable-rate seeding prescription you carry to the monitor as a shapefile, with the rate column first so a picky importer still gets it right.

It shows its work. Attainable yield, water-stress risk, the seed price and grain price it used, and — for every input — whether that number was measured on your farm, derived, or assumed. It will lay replicated rate strips in the field too, so next fall you find out who was right instead of arguing about it.

Where it stops

Corn and soybeans get the full soil-driven rate. Wheat runs off the drilling date and canola is a flat rate with a drainage suitability flag — the published research for a soil-driven rate in those two isn’t there, and we won’t invent it. Fertilizer and chemical maps carry your agronomist’s rates on our geometry; we refuse to model those rates for the same reason. Built on a desktop screen, read on any.

Spray records

The spray record that keeps you out of trouble.

Product, EPA number, rate, acres, target pest, applicator and license, and the conditions at the time. The record a regulator asks for, filled in while you still remember it.

Save one with a re-entry interval on it and the crew finds out: the field shows restricted until the interval clears, on their phones, with the clock and the product that set it.

Insurance dates go in once and count themselves down. Equipment runs on an hour meter with a due list sorted most-urgent-first, and a board that says who has the sprayer.

Where it stops

You type the wind, temperature and humidity — there’s no weather service filling them in. Pre-harvest intervals warn you where the decision is made — on the field card and on the haul ticket — but they don’t push a notification the way re-entry intervals do.

The weather it fills in is MODELED — a grid cell about seven miles across, not a gauge on that field — and it says so on the form, on the record and in the export. Type over any of it and the record says the numbers are yours. If the service is down it says that too, rather than leaving blanks that read as calm. Pre-harvest intervals are stored and exported but don’t raise an alert yet; re-entry intervals do.

Did it pay

Did the water pay?

Irrigated bushels next to dryland bushels, same crop, same season, with the field’s acres split at the pivot line when you kept the two yields apart.

Underneath it: what the power cost to run the pump, worked out from your motor’s nameplate, your duty cycle and your own hours.

Anything it had to leave out comes back by name and reason — no yield recorded, acres unknown, no pivot drawn. It won’t quietly average around a hole and hand you a tidy number that isn’t true.

Where it stops

The power figure is an estimate off the nameplate — your meter is the truth, and the app says so. There’s no water-volume tracking and no utility or pump telemetry.

Cost per acre

What it cost. What it made.

Budget a crop by the acre, by the bag — $650 a bag at fifteen acres to the bag — or off the machinery you actually own.

You get cost per acre with each line as a share of it, breakeven bushels, breakeven price, and what the year looks like at three yields and three prices. Cash-flow timing keeps depreciation out of the cash column, where it doesn’t belong.

Grain tickets go in with moisture, foreign material and damage, and come back out as bushels on the right field. On a field with two crops on it, the app refuses to guess and tells you which ones it skipped.

Where it stops

Crew logins don’t see money. The dollar columns aren’t blanked out for them, they’re not sent at all — so nothing renders as a zero that was really a secret.

No signal

Works when the bars don’t.

Open it in the yard, drive into the hole in the coverage, and keep going. Sprays, fuel, hours, grain tickets, irrigation runs, field notes — they stack up on the phone and send themselves the minute you’re back on the road.

Nothing is thrown away to keep the queue tidy. If the server refuses a record, it doesn’t vanish: it moves to a list with the server’s own reason printed on it and waits for you to retry it or throw it out on purpose.

The badge on the nav says how many are waiting. You never have to wonder whether the last hour of work made it.

Where it stops

Open it while you still have signal. A cold start in a dead spot gives you the app but not your field list — we cache the program, not your farm, and we’d rather say that than let you find out at the end of a row.

Your data

Your records leave whole. Any day.

One button. No phone call, no fee, no account manager to go through, no export tier.

You get nineteen spreadsheets — fields, plantings, applications, fuel, tickets, agreements, budgets, equipment, the lot — plus a map file of every boundary that opens in QGIS or Google Earth without anything else installed.

And a manifest listing every file and its row count, including the empty ones, under a heading that says what is NOT in this export. Fields with no boundary drawn are listed by name rather than dropped quietly. If we’re missing something, the download tells you so itself.

Where it stops

Prescription zone geometry is exported per prescription as a shapefile, not in the bulk download — and the manifest says so rather than letting you assume.
