Privacy Policy

This describes what AcreCast collects, why, and what we will never do with it. The short version: we collect what the product needs to work, we do not sell it, and you can take it all with you at any time.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and a hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Farm records you enter — fields, boundaries, plantings, applications, fuel, grain tickets, land agreements and the people named on them, irrigation runs, custom work, budgets, equipment and insurance dates.
- Files you upload — machine cards and their decoded contents.
- A farm location, once, at signup, if your browser offers it. It anchors imported machine data and centres your map. It is a single point, not a track of where you are.
- Operational logs — request logs and errors, which include IP addresses, kept for a short period to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
- Push subscriptions, if you turn on alerts.
We do not run third-party advertising or analytics trackers in the app.
What we do with it
We use it to provide the service to you, and for nothing else. We do not sell it. We do not share it with input suppliers, seed or chemical companies, equipment manufacturers, landlords, lenders, insurers, commodity buyers, or data brokers. We do not use your farm records to train machine-learning models.
If we ever want to publish aggregate figures, we will ask first and we will ask specifically.
Who else can see it
- People you invite to your farm. That is the point of inviting them.
- Our infrastructure providers, which host the server and the database, and an email relay if one is configured, which handles password-reset and verification messages. They process data on our instructions.
- Public map imagery and road data providers see the map area you are looking at, in the normal course of your browser fetching tiles. They do not receive your records.
- Soil survey (USDA SSURGO) lookups send a field's boundary to obtain soil map units for it.
- Law enforcement, only where a valid legal demand compels us, and we will tell you unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.
Where it lives, and for how long
Data is stored on servers in the United States. We keep your records for as long as your account exists. Daily backups are retained for about two weeks and weekly backups for about two months, so deleted data can persist in backups for that long before ageing out.
Deleting it
Deleting your account from Setup → Danger zone removes your login immediately. If you are the only person on your farm, the farm and all of its records go with it. If other people remain on the farm, the farm's records stay with them and your name is detached from the entries you made — the record of the fuel or the import survives, the attribution does not.
Getting it out
Setup → Download everything gives you a zip containing every farm record as CSV and your field boundaries as a GeoJSON FeatureCollection. No request, no waiting period, no charge.
Children
AcreCast is not for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
